IAMAW COVID-19 UPDATE

In order to protect the safety and health of members and guests in light of the coronavirus pandemic, the IAM Executive Council has made the difficult decision to postpone the upcoming 40th IAM Grand Convention, which had been scheduled for Sept. 6-11, 2020 in San Diego.The convention will instead be held Sept. 12-17, 2021 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel.

The Local Lodge 1722 general membership meeting scheduled for June 4, will unfortunately be cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic.


IAM Canadian General Vice-President Stan Pickthall commended the federal government on seeking agreements with provincial and territorial governments to provide 10 days of paid sick leave to workers infected with COVID-19.


IAM GVP Stan Pickthall calls out Air Canada over abandonment of workers, “Air Canada needs to come to the table and maintain its employees on the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) program,” said Pickthall, as over 20 000 layoffs , many of whom are IAM members loom for the company.


The IAM’s education center, W3 remains closed effective April 6 2020 for the rest of the year.
